At the moment i have the X-Fi Xtreme gamer sound card installed in my PC, but even with the new Vista 64 drivers that creative have put out, it still makes crackly noises and popping sounds sometimes. Even the software interface is worse...

Is there actually a card out there that doesn't do this, that has been built with Vista in mind?

If so, i think i might try upgrading to it!

Cool thanks for the links, i like the looks of the first one :)

What do i do if i have some PCI latency settings in my Bios then, do i need specific settings?
Does it affect things like my sound card enough to produce audio issues like i described then if not set correctly?

Hmmm, maybe they'll fix the crackly noise in future driver releases, if there are any...

Sounds like you might just have a bad connection between the mobo and sound card.. I would take the soundcard out and make sure the connectors are clean.. and then vacum around the slot to get dust out..

Some times speakers produce pops if there is a surge in electrical power (like i light being switched off some where round the house)

my xfi sounds crappy in vista (if i do anything that's averagely cpu intensive, like open a steam game, winamp will stutter, on the same machine in xp, does it no problem)

just the new audio stack :/

I've got the XFi-Xtreme Gamer and 8GBs of RAM, also works fine for me on V64-Ultimate, but I did have about three weeks of unworkable sound when I built this thing in September. Creatives latest (from October or so) solved the problem nicely.

[edit]have a go on here...[/edit]
