Just out of interest guys, can anyone recommend the best speaker/sound card/software combination for listening to mp3s?
I know mp3s will never give true surround sound due to only being two channel stereo but there a few apps I've seen that make good effort at 'simulating' multi-channel sound.
I currently have the creative x-fi extreme music PCI card hooked up to a 5.1 creative wired speakers which the model has escaped me for now and using creativemedia player with various crystalliser and DTS settings. (Honestly I'm not a creative fanboy lol)
This was all pretty budget stuff to be fair and would like to upgrade. I just don't want to go spending a ton of cash with the net result that only my games and DVDs get a real boost. My PC is rarely on without an mp3 playing in the back ground so that is the main target of improvement.
Thanks all
