best ssd to buy today?

Ok cool, how about checking and updating the firmware if necessary? Can this be done after I've installed windows onto it or should I use my current setup and put it in as a secondary drive first?

Firmware will be the latest since mine was and it was bought months ago, firmware version is printed on the drive any how. If for whatever reason it's not the latest you can update it without data loss so can do it after you install windows just fine.

Also grab the latest rapid storage drivers from http://www.station-drivers.com/tele...t_9.6.5.1001full(www.station-drivers.com).exe

If you have tried Vertex 2 and or Intel X25M then maybe you would think twice before saying it.
I have tried all three of them, actually 4 including the corsair P128 and I would say that Intel x 25M feels smoother when it comes to actual and normal usage scenario and that's aside from the fact that as of the moment, it's the only SSD with a working and functional "Toolbox" that kept it's performance at peak.

Here's the benchies.

Crucial C300 128GB - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=16896786&postcount=180

Intel X25M 160GB - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=17302925&postcount=250

Marketing numbers are simply numbers. Well, thats just my 2 cents.:D

Those are some interesting benchmarks it's just a shame you weren't able to test the C300 on a SATA 3.0/6Gb's interface. What does stand out to me is the 4k performance, a year ago Intel SSD's were miles ahead of other manufactures in terms of 4k performance but now it looks like the competition has caught up or is that a result of the Intel X-25 being a mainstream drive and having low 4k performance?
