Not for me, but a friend is looking for a really small car. He's looking at a Corsa SXi 1.2 at the moment and has a max budget of about £3800.

He won't look at anything bigger and uses it around town only.

Is the corsa any good or should he be looking at something else?

Corsa = teh sux0r.

Get something else, Fiesta, Micra, Yaris.

Unless he wants sporty/quick(ish) then look at Saxo VTR's.

Lupo? ;) Or are they not that great? (i don't really know tbh, but am just giving another option)

If hes not worried about style pick up a fiat chinqocento for £1000. Nothing beats them as a cheap town runaround.. reliable and surprisingly sturdy.

For that price, you'll be looking at Fiesta MK6, which is probably the best choice for a supermini (Zetec with a/c should be within that price range).

Other option would be a 206, pedals are rather close so those with wide feet should test drive it to find whether it is suitable for daily driving.

Clio should be a third option, seating position needs to be tested as it doesn't suit everyone.

Wouldn't really touch Corsas at that price as they lack quite a fair bit of equipment early on compared to the rest of the market (ignoring the Corsa bashing-side of things).

i drive a fiesta zetec, and although its nippy enough around town, i do find it a bit gruff and rattley ... cant stand Peugots, and the Clio i tested, it was the most uncomfortable thing i have ever sat in ...

how about a Puma ?

the Yaris VVT is also very good ... yeah i know his mum has one ...

3.8K for a Mk6 Zetec Fiesta with Aircon? On your bike - or is it attack of the 'living in a london suburb' again that makes me think that's impossible.

If he has NCB under his belt a Puma would be an option, bottom -> middle end of the examples tho. Corsa's aren't all that bad, i found the courtesy one i drove for a month quite room, felt quite modern, but a 1.0 litre made babies cry.
