Hi folks,

I'm looking to replace our existing wireless router (Linksys WRT54GR) with something than doesn't require a power cycle each day (router slows to a crawl after a while).

I'm also looking to speed up file transfer as I'm looking to store our 300 or so dvd's to the media center and will be using the main pc to do this as it has the power to do so. Will also need to stream HD.

So, with this in mind, and in addition these devices also use the network

Xbox 360 (also runs as mc extender)
PC
iPhone
Media Center
Laptop 1
Laptop 2
Laptop 3

Also, stupidly enough, I have a wireless keyboard for the Media Center that becomes unresponsive when anything is being downloaded, kinda logical I guess if I've hit the network capacity, don't know.

So can someone recommend a setup that can cope with this? Will any wireless n (n+, n1??) setup do this?

Thanks,
Rob

Hi folks, Also, stupidly enough, I have a wireless keyboard for the Media Center that becomes unresponsive when anything is being downloaded, kinda logical I guess if I've hit the network capacity, don't know.

I have you tried changing the wireless channel you are using on the router as it could be interfering with the keyboard?

Does you keyboard have any software with it that shows the signal strength that you could check, I know my microsoft one does?

currently, what is connected via a cable and what is wireless?

also what can be connected via cable because obviously connecting via a cable is much faster.

everything is wireless, mainly due to where virgin had put the cable which has limited where the router can go, so wiring the house with ports isn't going to be feasible, can possibly connect 1 laptop up via cable but that's it really.

Keyboard has no software and is random generic chinese make from a electronics store starting with 'M' :)

Happy to also try a different keyboard but that's a seperate issue, I just want to improve wireless speed around the house (signal isn't an issue)
