Need some grippy tyres for a 2000 Wreg 306 1.6LX.

I had a moment the other week in the wet on a slight bend at only about 30ish and span the bloody thing and nearly ended up in the ditch.

I was following two other cars who where about 30yards ahead and they didn't seam to have a problem at all.

Since then i'm really not happy driving cornering in the wet/damp as i keep thinking i'm going to spin, and have basically lost confidence.

I've had a look at the tyres and they're all still legal but i just think i'd feel happier replacing them all with some decent tyres.

Currently the front are both Michelins energy mxt and the rears are some cheapo Kwik fit centaur Supreme 200 or something like that.
They're all legal although the side walls look a bit scuffed and old ! Edit Just a a quick look and the fronts don't look great ! the outside is wrong very badly and they need doing right away ! think i've now discovered why i spun around !

I think the sizes are 185,65,14 so anyone recommend a good grippy wet tyre so i can stop driving like Miss Daisy !

What sort of budget you looking at?

In that size I would personally go for Goodyear NCT5 at around £49 each fitted :)

Not sure really I want a good make so no budget circles ! so where talking £200 all round for a set then ? that's not too bad i supose.

Also as my current tyres are badly worn i assume i'll need the tracking looking at ?

If they are worn unevenly then it will probably need the tracking doing too yeah. I was charged £29 quid when I got mine done. Not sure if I was shafted or not but it was just more convinient to get it done when the tyres were being fitted.

Anyone know how long tracking takes to do ?

I'll be in a hurry after work tonight and can't be waiting around for ages, i assume the tyres will take like 20mins.

Mine took about 5 to 10 minutes to check and about the same again to adjust. Which I was quite pleased about seeing as they took an hour to change 2 tyres

Just been quoted £233.34 for 4 Avon zv3 ! a little steep me thinks
and Firestone TZ200 £219.00

They didn't have any better makes in ! North Eastern Tyres + Exhausts.

I've asked my house mate to see what he can do as he's in the trade.

I don't need to car at all at the weekend so i'll wait and see if he can get me a better deal.

So still looking for brand and model recommendations ? ta

Had the following quotes,

185 65 14 H size

Firestone TZ 200 £45.70
Dunlop Sport 01 £47.69
Goodyear Nct5 £43.70

Prices are for each tire and include delivery and fiting at my workplace.

So anyone know if one tyre is better than the other ?
