Do you mean HG612 rather than HG312?
The HG612 (configured as it is when provided by BT) is a modem only. I've got no idea whether the VMG1312 has a modem mode or not. That'll matter if you are intending on using it as a modem.
For the VMG1312 as a router the settings (according to a quick Google) should be:
Username: [email protected]
Password: <blank or anything>
VLAN: 101
VPI: 1
VCI: 32
PPOE
