I've owned a SNES for years and we'd liek to have a streetfighter tournament at uni. Which is the ultimate version of SFII for the SNES? Cheers.

I always preferred Super SFII on the Mega Drive (the one with Cammy, T-Hawk, Fei Long etc), should have come out on the SNES too I assume?

Streetfighter 2 turbo is the best its the nearest port to the arcade on the 16 bit systems
Super streetfighter (with cammy T-hawk etc) was a bit to much for the 16 bits to handle and as a result the games on both the mega drive and snes were average

If you want the best experience apart from getting a arcade cabnet then i sugest you get a cheep second hand PS1 and the streetfighter collection discs this should set you back around £30 apart from the loading these ports are arcade perfect unlike the 16 bit ports on the mega drive and snes

Agree that SFII:Turbo is the best of the SNES conversions.

The PS1 version's loading times are ridiculous, made it unplayable for me and can only imagine how annoying it would be for a tourney.

I had the japanese versions of all three SFII games on the Snes.

The best, imho, is Super SFII. You get the extra characters, more colours for your fighters, and you can still ramp it up to turbo speeds if you so wish.

Super streetfighter was a average convirsion although it has more content it was a struggle to fit it all on the snes cart

Turbo was much closer to the arcade

So what versions were there, and what were the differences? I thought there was just plain SF2, turbo and super versions, and then both super and turbo together.

xbox has all the street fighter 2's put into one game, and street fighter 3 which is really good which you might wanna consider if someone has a xbox can pick the game up for less then £20

I've got a 360 in the post. Is it backward compatable?

As far as I know on the snes there were:

street fighter 2 turbo
super streetfighter 2
street fighter alpha 2

Well it should be, the only thing about that street fighter is that you have got a range of chars from all the street fighters say you could have SF2 vs Hyper SF2 you'd prob be handicaped unless you know all the lamer combos with SF2 chars. I think it is backwards compatible but don't hold me to it!

I know there was a Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo but I don't know if it came out on the snes. It definately came out on PC. Good game except PCs suck for beat em ups :p

Another vote for SF2:Turbo. Best of the 16-bit conversions.

I liked the Mega Drive version, because of the 6 button pad on the MD. A beat-em-up is only as good as the controller.
SNES pads have six buttons.
