best way to get a tv from w1 (london) to canary wharf?

Definitely be prepared for the box to be a lot bigger than you were expecting; I know in the case of Samsung LED sets the stands are placed vertically alongside the screen at one end, making the box considerably wider than the fully assembled set.
 
Just get a regular minicab from somebody like Addison Lee. You can book it before or after picking it up and their cars are all mini vans with rear seats that fold down.

You just bought an expensive TV, so surely you can afford a cab?

While people do take big stuff on the Tube... saw a guy recently with a Fridge! It's a hassle, inconvenience and at risk of being damaged. I certainly wouldn't want to attempt it without help.

Finally, depends where you buy it, but most stores should be able to arrange delivery.
 
Put it on top of a couple of skateboards and tie some ferrets to the front.
Decorate it with a bit of tinsle and then you can ride it round like a chariot, whilst screaming "this is spartaaa!!!"
 
I've got a pair of large boxed floor standing speakers into a black cab from the centre of town to here. If you can afford the TV you can afford a £25-£40 cab fare. If you don't need it today get them to deliver next week.
 
Did you not think about this before you ordered it? Seems like a glaring oversight. Sounds like it would have worked out easier and cheaper to pay the extra to have it delivered?
 
it was either pick up today or deliver on the 4th january :p

turns out when I went to the shop - they don't actually have any stock in the shop (is it technically still a shop if you can't actually take anything from the place??)

so regardless now have to wait for 4th of january :(
