Best way to get dust off fans?

Hello, I have the Corsair 800D, and I do the pull/push on the H50. Got 3 fans up top etc. Whats the best way to clean them, as using the air compressor doesn't do the job for my likeing. I let the fans spin when compressing, and I get the blades still but still doesn't do the job well.

I will be moving my core i7 build into it at crimbo, so I need it spotless. Thanks.

A soft paint brush is great for fans, a 1" brush is perfect for getting into the nooks and crannies.

You can get a blower brush (I believe they are used for photography lens cleaning). Its basically a brush which has a hand pump attached to it so you can blow air through it as you are brushing the dust off.

I have a good root around with a vacuum on max power to suck it out of there. Sounds like I might be being a little heavy handed tho. Unless you lot just enjoy an afternoon with a brush and your head inside your case

I use compressed air, though I always take my case to the back door before I do it, because the dust goes everywhere!!

I've heard letting the fans spin whilst blasting air at them can damage them.

Try holding the blades still with a pen/pencil and blasting them while they're stationary, seems to work well for me.

I happen to have a 4,500psi cylinder with an 850psi output (paintball), and that sucker blasts all the dust out from ANYWHERE. Of course, if you plan on doing this yourself, be careful and do it from a distance or you'll knacker the fan bearings and pretty much everything else you point it at. Faster than a paintbrush though

Gave mine a pretty good clean this week, used a paint brush and although it may take a little longer I think you get a more satisfying and better job at the end of it. My cpu / gpu temps have dropped nicely, especially the cpu. Even gave the psu some attention.

Nick one of your mums/partners old cosmetic brushes. They're ideal, soft and gentle.

But make sure you hide them in case your mates pop round. You'll never get live it down if you get caught with a womans cosmetic brush.
