Just moved into a new flat and need to get my 360 running on my wireless network, the layout of the flat makes it a pain to run any wires from the router to the tv area. Now is the best way to purchase an official adapter which seem a little expensive or has anyone done it different?

I know of one person who had a spare wireless access point, I simply set it up to bridge to his wireless router and cabled it into his Xbox, works fine :p

Have my own cabled though, didn't really like the idea of stumping up so much cash for the official one..

yeah thats why i asked not sure how they can justify £50 for what is essentially a usb adapter when you can pick up similar things for a lot less.

The official one is very good for the ease of setup and general simplicity, but it is a tad expensive, not sure if Kays are still selling them, but they were £45 there, and a secondhand one will probably be reasonably priced.

I still have my official M$ wireless adaptor, funnily enough i havent bothered using it...well i did try but i couldnt connect to my AP but that was partly my fault and since then ive moved the 360 into my room along with my new lcd tv. Now i just run a long cat5 cable into my switch which runs into my router...works fine.

Saying that i must get around to trying to flog it, as its just sitting in the 360 box doing nothing:p.

If you want it Furbs, send me an email...the one in my trust and we will sort something out.

might just do that, i have a spare access point im going to try and set up first just cant remember the admin login :p

Why not go the opposite, wireless your PC, and have your router sat by your 360 :)

Paul ...

At a guess, lots of wires to connect the modem/router up by the TV instead...

pc is already wireless, the phone connection in the flat is in the entrance hall not near the lounge area the pc and xbox are in, didnt want to run any wires through the flat

Yeh it's a bit overpriced, but it runs Wireless A also. Most gaming adapters I looked at were just Wireless G and I've got a dual band router. I know A+G are the same speed, but I won't get any interference from other appliances in my house that run at 2.4GHz frequency (which is pretty much everything) whilst I'm running Wireless A. Plus it clips on the back of you 360 and looks neat :p

As stated above you are paying for a top of the range usb adaptor that will connect to any existing wireless network. Also think about how much you pay for a game, that you will play for a few weeks (maybe months) then leave it on your shelf until you decide to trade it in. The adaptor will be used every time you turn the 360 on.
