Best way to receive internet

Yeah if you try n buy any sort of cable from HIgh Street they rip you off big time, Ive had to do this twice, once for my dad when I bought him a surround sound kit for birthday/xmas (cant remember which now) and didnt realise it didnt come with optical cable so had to go buy one, and once when sorting out my mums PC (think it might of been new monitor at time) and she insisted she didnt have a DVI cable, for some reason I couldnt find any spare so went and bought her one (£15 iirc) to then get back and her go "oh is this it?" yes mum, yes it is, and of course now Im falling over them at my house too, lol - Sometimes you just need a cable at that moment and cant wait a coupla days for delivery
Anyway back on track, I'd say if its just for general surfing etc, wireless is fine, if youre wanting to game or gonna be doing heavy downloading then wired, whether ethernet or powerline whichever

I dont know whats funnier; the fact you paid £50 for £2 worth of cable or how spoilt you sound about it :rolleyes:

Anyway, as to the OP, is it Virgin broadband or internet over the telephone lines. Just a thought would be if it was virgin Id try and run the ethernet between the modem and the router so the router was up a floor.

Next options Id try powerline adaptors, then finally Id try running an ethernet cable. Actually I might try running the ethernet cable first but thats just what Im like!
 
another LOL at DJ_Hughesy :D I wouldn't have thought that even the purple-shirted ones would be that expensive, in fact I'm sure they aren't?

Anyway, Ethernet if you can. I have serious reservations about Powerline adaptors- they're expensive, can suffer serious degradation depending on your mains wiring layout and don't tend to last all that long / suffer from random deaths. Do it properly, run a cable :p
 
i had same problem .... so in end .. i took cable out of window and up and in to the top window ...... (hint) when removing the cable lol never let it drop from top window lol ( may **** downstairs window and **** the person living below up lol
