Best way to secure a heavy clock to a plasterboard wall

my mate is using MDF board instead of ply now to secure on to my plasterboard wall using plasterboard screws and he's made a reinforced pin to hang the clock on?

I thought it was rawl too, but apparantly rawl is a brand and the generic name is wall plugs.

Is anyone else half expecting a post from the OP about having screwed into a water pipe or something of that kind? That always worries me when it comes to screwing or drilling into walls.

I freely admit to cheating when it comes to screwing things onto a wall - I make a decorative wood panel, glue that to the wall (No More Nails works rather well) and screw into that. You need an axe to get that off after it's dried.

Just some brown or even red wall plugs would be fine i bet, no need to drill just push the screwdriver tip through to make a hole.
