best wireless n router

"Best" is a pretty hard specification to comply with. IMO, the "best" solution wouldn't be a wireless router, it would be a superb router and a superb wireless access point, but you're talking expensive money here.

Is it better to get a router and seperate wireless accesss point than have it all in one?
well just a wireless n router that will allow fast wireless transfer rates between my brothers macbook wirelessly i will be connecting to my gamng pc via gigabit ethernet and my server via ethernet.

So by "best" you actually mean "one that works".
I prefer it that way, but then thats down to having cisco kit.

No, by Cisco, I mean Cisco.
If you want to actually go for cisco kit, and want an all-in-one solution you'd be stuck with wireless g (not actually a bad thing, WiFi utilisation is poor at best, I doub't you'd manage to get anywhere near saturating 802.11g with just one WiFi device).
The 877W is about your only option sticking with proper Cisco kit.

While it probably wont get much praise, I got a Belkin wireless router for about £80 a year or so ago. It replaced another one which had died (but after 4-5 years of use, where it had been on 24/7).
Those are wireless and have ports for hard lining to the router.

More importantly, you need to say what you're going to connect it to - an ADSL router would be useless if you're on cable, and vice versa.
I agree with paradigm though - get a separate router and wireless device. You don't have to change the whole lot when a new wireless standard comes along, it's more reliable, and you should have an easier time finding an 802.11n(ish) router if you don't need an ADSL modem in there as well.
