Thinking of starting to do a few footie bets every now and then. I might put some on tonight's Champions League games. What is best to do. Cos I dont have a clue, as I have never done it before.

Is it best to go into the betting shop, or do it online?

have a look at quidco, i did a few £10 bets years ago and got £25 back.

EDIT

£25.00 from Betfair.com paid on 01/09/2007
£25.00 from Betfair.com received on 14/07/2007
£25.00 from Betfair.com validated on 12/07/2007
£25.00 from Betfair.com tracked on 25/06/2007

a little slow though

All depends on what you want to do.

Grab a form in the bookies, tick the boxes, put the final amount you want to bet and voila.

The cashier will be able to help you.

Have a look around the Stan James website. I find it less cluttered than other well known sites and there isn't a minimum bet (or at least that used to be the case). Therefore you can put a couple of very small wagers down until you get used to it and learn your way around.

My tip, keep it fun, never chase your loses and don't bet when you're drunk! ;)

I'm by no means a "gambler".
However just over a year ago one of the newspapers were offering a free £5 bet on the National via skybet.co.uk
As it happens I managed to win a little money.
Over the past year I've just put little amounts on the odd football match or F1 result and at the moment my account is at £95 (all from the free £5 bet a year ago).

Anyway, skybet.co.uk - extremely easy to use the site, most all of the bets you could possibly want to place are there and it's just a matter of deposit some funds, choose your bet, place it in your basket, checkout - job done.

I always do a few cheeky bets in mylocal Coral before football on sat/suns.

Just pop in and check out the odds. I literally just put £1 bets on and get a good £10 back on each bet.

Bet low win high :D

Online is better. Just make sure that your PC is malware free.

Use decimal odds as it's easier to compare quickly. e.g. 1.33 is better than 1.31

Make sure that you get the best possible price. A difference of a few ticks may not seem like much, but it quickly adds up.

If Betfair appears to have the best price, remember to factor in the commission on winnings. ( typically 5%, so 0.95 * odds )
