I've been with BE for just over 3.5 years. Sync at ~22Mbps and have no complaints with the service. Their forums are a wealth of knowledge in optimising your connection and BE themselves helped me get a static IP set up yesterday, which went really smoothly talking to a guy in their Bulgarian call centre.

I've also signed up to their landline offer, which should be going live in early October. That'll save me a few quid over BT too.
 
Well it wasn't as hard as I expected to get a MAC from Tiscali. He kept me on hold for 5 minutes. Came back and asked why I wanted to move. Advised to call their 2nd line support (which I have no wish at all do to - last time I called they told me it would take 72 hours to troubleshoot an email issue I had) to "optimise my adsl".

They said they'd text and email me the code :)
 
as if you need one but here's another thumbs up for BE.

Moved from plusnet around February time, been rock solid since then.

In-game pings are a dream, always around 30: perfect :p

BE are one of the best companies i've dealt with and i've dealt with an awful lot. :)

I been with them 3 years or so, no issues and i had my router upgraded recently free of charge within 1 day of asking for a new one.

I hope they get fibre optic sometime though would be great.:D

I would not agree with this figure, with that noise on the line I would expect you to sync around 8-9.5. As such, your actual through speed would be what I would also expect.

I am also a current Nildram customer...taken over by Tiscali...taken over by Opal. I am also in the process of moving away due to recent slow performances (gaming sense) but I would still investigate what is the cause of the noise on your line.

Please let me know what sort of performance you get :)
