Hi guys,

I'm using forceware drivers version 174.51 and RivaTuner to clock my 8800GT. I'm currently sitting at 762/1909 using linked clocks. When i unlink it and go for higher shader clocks 3D Mark 06 fails.

Should i be able to get higher clocks using stock cooling? Note: My case is relatively organized, all fans are on full and i'm using 60% fan setting for the GPU.

No.

That is a good result.

With my 8800GT I could only get to 730/1844 so you have gone way beyond that.

Not every GT overclocks the same you know?

Be happy for a very, very good result on stock cooling and just enjoy some games now.

Ok, cheers guys. Getting 13,998 on 3D mark. Is that what everyone uses to test their clocks? Sorry for the questions. I've been out of the loop for a long time.

I think this card might be able to give me a little bit more.

I'll keep trying. Thanks for your help.

Without a (hardware) voltage mod you will probably find those clocks aren't stable for gaming... I can run 3D Marks at 771/1890 and 1944 (I can't get 1909) but after 20 minutes or so of gaming the graphics will lockup - maybe better cooling would help dunno - but it doesn't get over 65-68C with the BIOS fan settings adjusted.

My highest fully stable clocks are 756/1836 and I usually run 742/1836. So if your stable at 760+ core and 1900 shader you are doing well.

On mine the shader clock jumps from 1836 to 1890 - no stops between... setting linked clocks for 740 gives 740/1836. Tho I'm guessing different cards prolly run different numbers as the OP seems to be able to get 1909.

13998 seems a bit low with a quad core tho - I hit 14K on my other PC with an E6600 @ 3.8gig and a 8800GT (and thats using an x8 PCI-e port :D) and get 13199 on this PC with the CPU at 3.6gig - not final score tho I'm guessing theres another 200 points in it yet.

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm only playing COD4 atm and it seems to run OK. CPU is currently at 440*8. Can't get 400 * 9 with my current cooling. 70 is my limit lol :D

Remember, i'm running at 3.5Ghz. What are the upper limits in terms of temps for my GPU?
