Hi there, when I first took delivery of my nice shiny new GFX card about this time last year, I was well happy after waiting for it for months. Plumbed her in and ran the benchmarks as one does, after I got to the flying Blimp the GFX started to glitch..... not a happy bunny. Anyway, because the cpu and mobo was in the region of 48 degrees I thought it was because of the Hot system, got coolbits on the go and I dropped the Mhz of the Memory to about 1700Mhz, instead of the 1750Mhz as stated by BFG. Running everything fine so I was happy. About 3 months ago I managed to get my paws on another BFG7800GTX OC and dropped that one in, now this one runs at the stated speeds all day long no problems, so i took him out and put the old one in and guess what SPARKLIES! So it seems I have a dodgy card.... I have actually got post outlining this problem from about Feb last year. Now together in SLi I can run them but I have to downclock to stop the sparklies. The time has come to sell them, now do i sell the card like this and inform the potential buyer? Or RMA it and get it swapped?

Hi there

RMA to BFG and as the card is no longer in production they will no doubt exchange it for you. I suspect they will give you a 7950GT 512MB as replacement which is superior. :)
Then you can sell that!

oh right, im gonna get myself a 8800gtx, quick question, how will my 2 7800gtx's fair against the 7950, and 8800gtx? The 8800gtx will muller it yes?

The 8800GTX will be noticably faster than two 7800GTXs in SLI. You might get a similar score in 3dmark, but in real-world gaming you will notice a real difference (I did).

SLI isn't all it's cracked up to be (benchmarks are decieving).

Gibbo, how do i go about rma'ing it to BFG? I cannot remember if I bought the card from OCuk or not!? That shouldnt matter as long as I have the orriginal reciepts? Actually I have found the reciept, 23 january 2006, total price: £526.35! just for one!! I have emailed BFG outlining the 1st post, awaiting a reply. Not sure they will get funny by the fact that I downclocked the gfx card. At the end of the day I had to, to enable it to work properly. Its never ever been Oc'ed. Ever. If it doesnt work at factory speeds why clock it more? At the end of the day I waited from november till january to get the GFX card, I wasnt about to send it back for the sake of a quick downclock.

d@mn, they should replace it by an 8800GTX considering you paid that much for it :p

about the RMA, I think you only need the section on the box where it says something like "keep this section for warranty" . An invoice is even better though :)

from BFG GUYS.

Shipping instructions:

Use a trackable carrier like UPS or FedEX
Declare a value for the card with the courier for insurance.
Get a tracking number from them!
Package the card in a plain box.
You will not receive the original box back.
The original BFG retail box is not suited for shipping.
Make sure that the card is securely packaged. (If the warehouse receives the card damaged in transit, it will be returned to you and you will be advised to file a claim with your courier).
Send NOTHING with the card. Send just the card (no software, dongles, etc...).
Put the RMA number on a piece of paper in the box in case your courier puts a label over yours.
Use the info we give you verbatim on the label

Nothing about the original invoice? Just the card?

woman at bfg said for insurance reasons put a value of $400 on the card!!!!!!!! retail value, works out about £200... i paid £525, so more like $1000.

How much is it costing you to send it to BFG and who are you sending it with? I have a BFG card now so I hope that on the chance I need to send it to the US it isn't going to be a biatch.

Yeah but you're taking into account the exchange rate but it isn't that simple. It's not worth £500 anymore so I wouldn't worry about it, just mark it down as $400. You wont need the receipt either.

bfg europe is in wales. its insured for the price i paid for it, in fact ill probably sell them both when i get it returned. Brand spinkee new card plus 3 month old one.

so overall the 8800gtx is the better card by far.

Id say so, it mullets everything in its wake, even 2x x1950 XTX's in Crossfire can't beat a single GTX, there is no 2x cards together that can beat a single GTX, its the fastest card on the planet. :)

This long.

Code:
even 2x x1950 XTX's in Crossfire can't beat a single GTX

Actually in many cases they do.

And again. How about two 8800GTXs? :p
