I know Samsung have a couple of models out that are 'slimfit' as well (about 30% less 'deep' than a normal CRT), that are meant to be pretty good.

Be warned though, they are like rocking horse poo.

I've got one, although I don't know whether you'd class it as big, comparatively, as it's only 32". I own the Samsung Z419 (black) HD CRT. I'm very happy with it; great picture with DVI-HDMI and also from my Phillips upscaling DVD player (HDMI). Wii looks good on component too. Had mine since Nov 2006, no trouble with it (touch wood).

However, there's a big thread over on AVForums where a lot of people have had various geometry issues (bowed lines toward the edge), some smearing, colour patches and loud buzzing. Don't know if this applies to the latest model (Z429), and I'm not sure that they're available at all anymore. Popular in America though.

I put an advert for rocking horse poo in the local free ads once lol ! Rocking Horse sh** really rare £1000. I think it went it once next time I did it Freeads phoned I don't think they had ever heard of the expression.
