Big Sam Quits Bolton

Heard about this on MOTD last night but there was no reason given other than he was leaving at the end of the season. Any further info since then?

i thought after the stories yesterday that it was pretty obvious he was gone at the end of the season but to go today is a big shock.

rumours that he thought he was getting the man city job coming out today and he may have been premature in his thoughts.

His record at Bolton was very impressive and he seemed to be improving the team every season. I doubt they'll get anywhere near to the heights they achieved with him when they appoint a new manager.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him manage another small underachieving premiership club like Newcastle.

Interesting one this as I can't see him getting a better job than the one he's just packed in! Don't really think Man City is a step up from Bolton unless he's going to get plenty of money for transfers off any potential takeover.

Could easily see Bolton doing a Charlton now next season cos whoever takes over won't do as well as big Sam.

Chris Kamara mentioned it on sky sports yesterday morning before the game so its nothing new

edit: he mentioned he was leaving but not straight away

Yes newcastle always underachieve but they arent a small club , that is if you are talking about fanbase .

I was just trying to work out which of the top 8 clubs would have him and drew a blank. I don't think there'll be many managerial changes this summer...

Yeah Man City would be a step sideways at best surely.

Depends on who takes over the reigns of the club between the Korean guy and Ray Ranson. It's a club with potential but has consistently failed to deliver and Sam has done more with Bolton under harsher conditions. As it stands though it is a bit of a sideways step given the clubs relative fortunes
