Hiya,
Just put 16`s onto my car which originally had 14`s it is alright to keep the same spare and safe to use if i needed to?

Cheers :)

As long as the rolling radius is the same, you should be fine.

Just make sure that, if you do have to use it, you take it very easy and you only go a short distance.

Many new cars come with a different sized spare (same rolling radius), which is normally a good thing. I think a full size spare in my car would mean virtually no boot space...

Change the tyre if necessary to equalise the radius.

So any idea what size tyre I would need to put onto the 14" rim?
Pretty clueless when it comes to wheels and rubber :D

Cheers.

if you're really worried about it and you get a flat, put the spare on the non-driven axle, i.e. if your car is FWD with a flat front tyre, put a rear one on the front and the small wheel on the back?

edit: this has been posted before i think but there's a rolling radius calculator on this site that seems quite good, you can put in the details of your current tyre and your larger tyre and see what the rolling radius difference is, then play with tyre sizes to see what matches?

There's a 2.3% difference in the rolling radius - nothing too much to worry about, especially for a spare. As karoshi said - if needbe, just make sure you've got a matched pair on your driven axle.
