Bike combination lock

Right,

I don't know if someone here can tell me if this thing is broken or not.

I just got a new bike lock from cycle king.

The damn thing has a little card with instructions that says, turn red latches counter clock wise (on the lock when you open it), then choose your lock number and then turn them back into locking position, I do this.

The damn thing will not go in thou, i can not put the cable back in and i've been on it for 2 hours now, im getting sick of it, i think it's broken, what do you think?

Take it back and get one with a key. I was told the combination ones can be opened without knowing the code in less than a minute.

Yeah Im gonna do that anyway, this thing must be broken, I even got my dad to do it and he's really good with bikes and cars, surely we both can't be such idiots that we can't figure out a lock.

They can be undone stupidly quick, I friend of mine bought one for the new bike he got, I took great pride in showing him he should get a different type
