Hi All

Well, i've been in my first "proper" bike crash... and it flippin' hurts!

Car pulled out infront of me on a roundabout (i was already on the roundabout) and he saw me and stopped.. in the middle of the road.

I glanced off the front wheel and wing (my left hand engine casing bent the rim of his front wheel back on itself and burst his front tyre)

Then the bike (and i) went over on the right hand side.

The bike is a surefire write off, more than 75% of its value in cosmetic damage plus bent clipons, broken footpeg hanger, engine case and exhaust.

Myself.. my lower back hurts, my right hip, my lower ribs, my shoulder, elbow and neck are all aching.

I don't recommend it anyway!

Not yet, the bike is at my mates house atm, awaiting inspection by an insurance assessor. I took my 20D down there yesterday to take some pics but i forgot my CF card

I'll try and get some pics soon

Sig updated :P

If it's the gsx-r 400 in your sig, then it won't be financially viable to repair it as parts are not really that readily available.

Make sure you take the muppet to the cleaners and I hope your injuries mend soon.

bad luck man, watch out though... many car drivers try to pin it on you and you'll end up with a 50/50 decision unless you have witnesses :(

things like

was he traveling to fast YES

did he use his horn NO

like ffs, if someone pulls out on you the last thing you think about is your horn

I'm waiting on a call from my insurance company today to see what's going to happen, i'm only TPFT anyway so if he doesnt take the blame i'm screwed!

my losses so far:

£1500 ish of bike
£600 of gear
£8.80 in a taxi to get to work this morning
mobile phone was smashed up when i hit the ground.
£use of my right arm and ability to look to my left

dam :(, I had someone pull across out from a t junction and hit me, person in filter waved him out into my path. that went 50/50 as him and all his mates said I was traveling too fast (about 20mph), I made mistake on not getting witness on scene.

they also argued I didn't use my horn :confused::mad:, yeah right sorry about that, I was too busy flying over your bonnet!

good luck

Ouch, glad you're not badly hurt at least,

Hope the insurance claim goes smoothly, mine took forever and you'd think pulling out on someone on a roundabout is fairly easy to assign blame...

Has it put you off bikes?

Surely if the driver could see you well enough to judge that you were "travelling too fast" he shouldnt have pulled out infront of you, thats attempted manslaughter :P

have you been to hospital to get checked over ? id reccomend it if you havent and have got back/neck pain. you should get some nice painkillers at the very least. a mate never got checked over years back and days later the pain was getting worse and worse... turned out hed fractured a bone in his neck

Perhaps he was making a sarcastic reference to the utterly pathetic word "compo" which is only used by the scum of society.

Too true. I remember a friend and i were buying a ticket from the machine in a car park once, and an old bloke was reversing out of a bay nearby. My friend didn't see him and he reversed back into his leg, knocking him forwards slightly. He was just crawling backwards. We turned around and made sure the man noticed us, and then got on with buying our ticket. We were promptly interupted by some cretin telling us we should get some "compo" for that. Pathetic.

unlucky about the bike, yo. Hope you get better soon.

Yo.

This is the roundabout that the accident happened on, as you can see (looking at the size of the articulated lorry on the roundabout) it's not a small roundabout, so i was clearly already on the roundabout when he pulled out.

you'll also notice the MASSIVE patch of black from diesel that's spread across the roundabout and eaten through the tar, this is the main reason i dont go fast around that roundabout, despite my exit being straight into a 70 zone!

if they pulled out onto you, you shouldnt need to use your horn to warn hem that you have right off way...
even if being filtered in by someone they should still check for traffic.
what arse of a cop was with you that gave it as 50/50? only time when its is the person on the main road fault is not having lights on or being told to stop by traffic light or by the cops..

been in the situtaion before and bikers are aways automatically at fualt with most non riding cops:( You have to literally pull out the highway code to get them to think straight.. i think its too many sunday boys on big cc bikes with little experiance.
