Riding my GF's Fazer FZS 600 '99 plate' at the mo and the exhaust has started blowing like a good'un. I was about to fork out on new sprokets and chain so can't really afford £175 for a new exhaust too... any idea where I can pick one up cheap either used or new?

I presume the downpipes have all rotted (probably at the collector)? If so it is a very common problem, which is why aftermarket stainless replacements are readily available at a fraction of the cost of OEM. Getting hold of a decent s/h set might be a problem, but all you can do is start phoning the breakers or try a wanted on a suitable Yamaha forum.

If you are on a tight budget and not too concerned about aesthetics you could get then welded.

Just bit the bullet and ordered an aftermarket one off the bay - not too bad at £175 including all gaskets!

Now I need a new chain and sprokets too - can anyone recomend some which are not too expensive but will last more than 10,000 miles???

word of warning, I know from the fazer owners club forum ( I have a fazer as well)

Be carefull when removing downpipes. Studs can shear off. Make sure you spray lots of wd40 etc on nute for a few days. Quite a few stories of nuts shearing off.

I would have thought going for a ride out before re-moving the studs would also help.

This helps to the GSXR a lot to.

Stick with an O ring or X rings chain from DID, Tsubaki, Regina, RK etc. Avoid SSS or any unbranded crap. Unfortunately decent chains aren't cheap, but you don't need to buy chains with silly gold finishes etc. to get something that will last. Something like this will last well if you look after it.
