Evening guys, I’m in need of a new set of tyres for the bike and I’m considering ordering some online (the place I get my bike serviced may not be able to get them at a good price) so I wondered if you have any recommendations?

In case it helps I’m after

Front – Bridgestone BT010 - 120 / 70ZR17M/C
Rear – Bridgestone BT020 - 180 / 55ZR17M/C (73W)

Cheers :)

PS. I've already googled and found a few places but was hoping for some personal experience recommendations.

Michelin Pilot Powers for the win!!!!.

Get a pair, quality tyres, sticky as hell and last ages, ye canny go wrong!!!
Not looking for different tyres, I've had several sets of the above and used them in all sorts of weather/conditions sun/rain/snow/and ice(that wasn't fun!) and am happy with their performance/wear.

I used to run 020s, but the Roadtecs and Stradas are just better tyres IMO... Similiar profile, wee bit grippier, better in the cold and wet and they last longer too. The Bridgestones are still pricey as well.

Totally understand.

Most folk I know that run superbikes, myself included, stick to what they know works best for them. Which is why I have been running the Pilot Powers since they were first released. Does everything I want in a tyre for my style of riding and use of the bike.

So yeah, stick to the 020's if that is what works for you m8. Not a bad tyre, by all accounts.

FWR still do that "packet of three" deal on a lot of brands, where you get 2 rears and 1 front at a discounted rate.

*EDIT* Ooopps!!!. Just noticed my sig has been removed as it was oversized. Resized it now, sorry.

Most places want about £190 for diablo corsa's and I can get the fitted for less than that at my local!
I love the BT-014's but they really havn't lasted very long (see other thread) so looking at the diablo corsa's or the Pilot Power 2CT's at the moment

Eblag, best place for em, got my Pirelli diablo for my old 600 GSXR SRAD for £82 posted! Just watch out, some of em look off the back of a lorry, some look legit with sellers with 500+ feedback :). Cheapest way by far to get good tyres, or get some used race scrubs, but then they won't last long at all.

All sorted now, the local place I get the bike serviced at will do the Bridgestones for a fair price and saves me the hassle of ordering online then taking them to get fitted.

I'm always tempted to try new tyres but as I've been happy with these so I'd be gutted to blow £200 on some that I was disapointed with. Bike originally came with Pirelli Dragons and I went through the rear one in a few months hence why I prefer the dual compound of the 020.

Dont get BT020's, Get Diablos Strada. There a MUCH better sport tourer tyre, On a trackday in June a mate had a Bandit 600 with BT020's and I had a ZX6R with Stradas, he was sliding all over the place whereas I didnt have a slide the whole day.
Seeing as I don't ride a Bandit or a Ninja, nor am I doing track days on my bike that recommendation was really useful. :p

My point was if the tyre can handle a 100BHP 600 on the track, it'll deffo handle everything you could probably throw at it on the road. Whereas the BT020 couldnt handle 75BHP on the track.

Mate has changed her rear Strada, It's done 10,000miles on her Hornet.

Different bikes and riders, can't compare any of it. Also not what the OP is after from his tyre. Everyone asks different things from their tyres, an 020is a very competant tyre, I embaressed many a rider with them on my NC30.

Hello all, just resurrected this thread! :P

I'm in the hunt for new tyres for my '02 FZS 600. Current tyres have been with the bike since the start and coming up to 6000 miles and I just would prefer new tyres to be honest.

I'm edging towards 020 front and a 021 back. Would this be a sensible option, or is anyone going to 'waow' me with some new tyres that are better which I don't know about? (I would like this to happen to get a good spread of choice).

I've been quoted £190 fitted from my local Yamaha dealer, what do you reckon for that?

Cheers all for the advice!

i found a guy that will come out to you and supply and fit the tyres there and then. on two wheels there called and there near thurrock

Rossmac, 021's are good. I'm currently using them for long distance work. Not let me down yet. I used to find with 020 that the front would wear quicker than other tyre models, not sure why.

Last year (OP) I went with a BT-014 at the front and BT-020 at the rear after several recommendations that the 014 was a better tyre than the 010, it wasn't.

I noticed no handling difference between the 010 and 014 but the 014 wore down a lot quicker.

Had it replaced last month and have now gone with an 020 up front as well as rear, 1000 miles in and I'm really pleased with how it handles both dry and wet.

Pirelli Diable Corsa 3's, enough said really, you wont get much better for compromise of road grip and grip in the wet theyre excellent transformed my riding in the wet these things just grip and grip, well worth the £230 for them over the Bridgestone crap i had before lol :p
