I'm lazy and the LED units just drop straight in, no need to play with wiring or find a way to mount ballasts.

Isn't HID the best option, if you're looking for best visibility at night?

Mine should be fairly simple to mount considering its a naked bike. :p By playing with the wiring, isn't it just plug and go? :p

LED is just as bright and the same colour temperature as HID.

With it being a naked bike you've actually got less places to hide the ballast units ;)

If I had a waterproof phone I wouldn't bother with any satnav, they're a much better option.

I wouldn't use one of those clamps though, I'd epoxy a mount to a spare phone case.

Yeh, that X grip will only be for my Nexus 5 on dry days & messing about really. I still have my old iPhone 4 in a waterproof UltimateAddons case for longer runs, which with the 1" RAM ball converter plate thing, also works with the same ToughClaw.

Also got myself a RAM ball mount thingy which uses the GoPro attachment (my cheap DBPOWER camera uses GoPro mounts), so that can also be used with the ToughClaw :)

The X grip comes with a rubber harness which goes round the RAM ball and hooks on to you phone to ensure it doesn't drop out. The thing grips it solidly enough anyway - doubt it'd ever fall out even without the harness. Means I can use pretty much any phone on my bike which is nice.

This whole setup I'm doing will also work with the TomTom/Garmin bike satnavs as well if I ever get one of those.

True, but isn't the headlight unit empty inside? I mean, as in it has some spare room inside. :p

Did you just get LED bulbs or?

Had the chance to fit my mirrors today but cba as it was freezing outside, i NEED a heated garage.. :(

Mine haven't arrived yet... how long did tom_e, your took to arrive?

BTW The garages you've in the UK are tiny, no electricity and heating. It's a bit annoying, when I was younger where I stored my quad there was water, electricity and heating. I miss having a big garage... :(

Some are, some aren't, you have to pay a premium for large garages, my mate has bought himself his first house with a garage, he can't fit his estate car in it lol..

I'm not sure how much room you've got to spare in the naked headlamp but the ballast can get quite warm I think so not sure if cramming it and the wiring into the headlamp is a great idea, then again that's probably how most are done to be honest.

Yep I just got a decent pair of drop in LED "bulbs" from horizon leds, think I got the pair for around £90 in the end with discounts. Not cheap but the improvement for me was worth it.

I think my 2wheels stuff took a couple of weeks both times I've used them, it was Chinese new year last month I think so they may be a little slower due to postal backlogs.

Naked bike round headlights are NOT empty! :D

They're normally where all the wiring loom sits, there's normally no room at all in there - if you ever remove your headlight from the bowl you'll see what a pain it is trying re-fit it, even worse if you have to remove the wiring!!

Completely 100% with you on this. Being able to lube my chain after work in the pitch dark with a security light that goes off every 30 seconds, in the freezing cold is not fun!

I live in a rented property with no garage, so I will be buying one of these in the summer, they're expensive but the only option really.

Room for 2 bikes, power (so a cheap oil filled radiator in the winter), lighting etc. I'll line mine with something, thin lining panels and get a couple of LED strip lights and some rubber garage flooring.

it wasn't that cold today,it was warm in the sunshine, just the wind that made it cold

you need a thick work coat and a hot cup of tea, ideal tinkering accoutrements

@IC3 these are the ones I bought

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271830915324?euid=31b2da5fbff84597a2e2878888967afa&cp=1 makesure you pick the right bulb type for your machine (you might want one with dual beam for hi/low) single beams no good on a single headlight, you'll have no main beam so search around a bit

EDIT: @TallPaul your better off getting a simple shed,i have a 10ftx6ft one and it was perfect for my bike, stick some carpet down and a portable gas heater in the corner, wooden sheds are far warmer that metal ones and they don't condense,i have the garage now though
