There's a difference between something designed and inspected for quality outside of China and something fully built in house without any standards to meet.

You say it's only electricity but motorcycle and car batteries can go spectacularly wrong when the fail safes aren't there.

I'm really looking forward to useable electric motorcycles, but not ones like that!

I'm not, so many bikes I want to try before electric becomes the norm. By the time I get old, fat, grumpy and boring is when the electrics bike will be the norm. lol So not too bad

Electric bikes absolutely destroy combustion engined bikes in both performance and maintenance.

The only thing missing once they increase the range and get charging sorted is the brap brap look at me noises.

The Noise that the bike makes is half the fun, when I hear a V4 hooning down my road. I know its a V4 and its usually a Tuono :D

Meh, I won't miss it once all the bikes are quiet. It will be nice to fly up the mountains and then enjoy some peaceful waterfall or watching the falcons hunt in peace before flying back down again.

I only want a noisy bike when everyone else has them :p

Tom, everyone seems to want automatic bikes these days anyway with auto shifters and blippers.

I've never enjoyed the noise of bikes when actually riding them, its just irritating.
noise when you see thousands of Harleys rolling past is nice.

however bikes aren't just for fun, many people purely use them for commuting.

Harley's are the epitome of a horrible bike noise, but each to their own I suppose!

For me the sound of a bike is a huge part of the enjoyment when riding, and when commuting a loud exhaust is even more essential. Yes, it DOES make a difference.

it really doesn't unless you are a rubbish rider, all those mopeds and other quite bikes that get hit, oh wait no they don't.

By that logic you may as well remove all the lights from your bike in the dark because you'll only get hit if you're a rubbish rider. Nobody can argue that anything to raise awareness to your presence on the roads is pointless.

Honestly some of the tripe you post is astonishing.

lights aren't even in the same ball park. plenty of people will not be able to hear you regardless be it stereo, hearing or any else, so if you are relying on it to have your rear, then you shouldn't be there in the first place.
there is a minimum requirement for sight, there isn't for hearing, cars have loud stereos now etc. I have never felt the need to blip my throttle. Or felt noise would have saved me from the three crashes I've had.
really the tripe you post is astonishing. biking teaches you to drive defensively and to be extremely aware of what's happening around you, you should not be relying on noise that they may well not notice.

No one is saying to rely on noise, but every little thing that helps you to be seen/drivers to be aware of you is a good thing.

Bright headlights (LED) and a loud exhaust help to make drivers aware of your presence. So does wearing high vis or having a bright helmet. Speaking from experience, I can tell an immediate difference when filtering when riding different bikes, single headlight, quiet exhaust etc.

So from your post I deduce the following (delete as appropriate):

Putting a loud exhaust on a bike makes you suddenly forget about situational awareness, defensive riding, etc.

Everyone drives around with their music blaring so loud they can't hear you.

Everyone else on the road is 100% predictable, you can always see exactly what other road users are going to do 100% of the time.

OR!

In those scenarios where you have old dears in their Honda Jazz not paying attention and about to turn right without indicating whilst you're about to go past them, you can give a quick vroom to wake them up.

Either way, doesn't matter to me. You can ride around on your silent stealthmobile and get squashed on your own accord, I'll go loud and have that extra awareness thanks.

I've lost count the amount of times blipping my throttle has stopped someone mid trying to move into my lane on top of me.
