@TallPaul_S, Do you've crash pads/frame sliders on your CB400?

Nope - I thought it would be a bit like bolting the gate after the horse had fled... :o:p

Plus the R&G ones (pretty much the only ones available) sit very low on the engine so probably wouldn't do much.
 
I was doing some reading and the only sliders available for my SV stick out a lot. Wouldn't they catch up on something causing the bike to flip and in the making also bend the frame? I know its probably different on the track, but roads have rough surface with lots of pot holes...

I've made a list of things I bought for the SV, still waiting for some to arrive...
- Delkevic Stubby SS70
- 40W Cree LED Headlight
- Small arrow indicators
- Tail Light Smoked with Intergrated indicators
- CNC Tomok Mirrors
- CNC Shorties
- DIY Undertray numberplate mount
Not sure what other things to change/add on it... I was thinking about a belly pan, but its a bit expensive for a piece of plastic. :rolleyes:

I haven't fitted anything either, the plan is to get to go home earlier as one tutor is off sick for 2 weeks. The only things I've done to it, is take off all the ugly bits and cleaned it a little. I took it for a ride up and down the road, couldn't resist... the good thing is, its a private road! :D
 
In a simple lowside at slowish speed the bike won't slide far, my offs were at 15-20mph max and I doubt it went further than 20ft, probably more like 10ft. If you're going fast enough for the bike slide 50ft and/or flip you'll have other things to worry about...

Crash bungs are more there for when you drop it at a standstill or on ice doing 2mph, or other low speed spills. At high speed, you bars will dig in and hit the tank/twist or bend the forks, and the bike would have to be sliding pretty damn quick to flip over. If I get a tuono I'll get the r&g bungs for that as they protect stuff like the rear brake lever marking the frame if dropped, stuff like that will write off a bike (new frame).
 
Not sure if there's any point in putting crash pads on mine, didn't have them on my KTM... No fairings to protect either, I've bar ends and swing arm crash bobbins though.

The other thing I might order today are Renthal handlebars :p
 
My crash bungs saved me completely trashing all my plastics in my little slide on the ice, well worth it if you've got any sort of fairing to protect.

trust me, they are worth their weight in gold, will save you engine casing from be scratched too which is a ball ache to replace/repair

even from a fall from stand still, it does happen, bike are heavy once you lean the bike from the no return point it will fall I assure you

That's the exact set I've got, and a good point on engine casings if they end up ground down it's basically time to scrap the engine.

The only horn test is does it work as far as I'm aware so no reason not to.

I'm not even sure if mine does to be honest, any time I've got to a point where I'd use one I'm too busy trying to slow down to think about hitting the button. Easier just to rev and call them a masturbater.

things like Generator and Clutch covers can be replaced, but its cost of replacements, plus costs of new gaskets/Threebond, time waiting for it to cure etc etc

Lol, good point, i dont think ive ever used the horn on my bike yet (it does work though!)

you see many vloggers on Youtube use them but more for the video than anything else :p
 
I started looking up crash bungs because of this thread, which lead me to THIS. Anyone used these before? For £20 it is tempting tbh

I had one and returned it, only because it didn't quite squeeze in where my original goes. I could have made it fit using the brackets they provide, but that would have meant it sticking out to the side more, not a look I wanted.

Really easy to fit, is literally plug & play if you have the space to mount it.

I suppose the other option would be to re-route the hooter wires and hide it away somewhere, but I don't have the patience and wasn't worth it.

There are a few videos on YouTube on how loud they are. They're pretty much car like, much better than the stock ones they give you.

That one you linked it plug and plug, nice and easy. I could see the other Denali 120db one being a pain as you need to mount the two separate bits and hook up to the battery.

The "mini" 113db one would, but I'm not sure about the full 120db one... there's something about hooters not being allowed to be 2-tone anymore, and these do sound like 2-tone. I'm not sure though, you'd need to look into it.
