I have an old Asus A7N8X-XE with a barton XP-M 2800 installed. The Bios isn't recognising the CPU so have had to set it with onboard jumpers (lots of guesing as i dont have a guide on settings). Just wondering how to flash the BIOS without a floppy disc drive. I have downloaded the asus flash tool from their site but it doesnt work with vista? Anybody have any ideas please? Oh also, in the BIOS i have an option for internal cache on cpu (dissable/write through/write back) what does it do and what should i have it set to?
Thanks

can you flash from USB on that mobo?

btw you can probably dl the manual from asus for that mobo to find the correct jumper settings.

If you have access to another PC with a CD-R drive you should be able to burn a bootable CD with the BIOS flashing software on it.
