Bios Won't Update On Asus A8n Sli-Deluxe

Ok well after reformatting my comp and installing all the new drivers etc etc, i tried downloading the Asus Update Utility, went to install it and it comes up with some Windows NT error, now i'm running Windows Xp Pro, then i cancell that message and after going into the setup screen it comes up that there is "no asus motherboard detected"

anyone else experienced this problem or have any idea how to solve?
 
Never had a problem with it I'm assuming you've tried a re-install and the latest version off the web? If all you want to do is flash the BIOS you can always go old school with a floppy!
 
yeah think i may re-install latest chipset driver for my motherboard, but big problem with my mobo and floppy as it's all connected properly and power is to it but when i try to read anything from the floppy it tries opening the disk then comes up with "please insert a floppy disk into a:" in my computer the floppy is marked as b: - any ideas with this problem as this too is preventing me from flashing bios via floppy?

What are your BIOS settings for the floppy, as that sounds like it's for one of the old 5 inch jobs.

You need "ASUS Update V6.10.02 Install Program for Windows 2000/XP/2003 & for Windows 64bit XP/2003" from over here. <RIGHT CLICK SAVE TARGET AS........(AsusUpdt61002.zip)

Download the BIOS image to your hard disc, and then tell the ASUS update to update from file.
Then point it to the BIOS image on your hard disc.
NEVER let it update over the internet.
 
split when i try to install the bios update programme i get a error Titled - ASUS BIOSINFO.DLL saying "unable to create NT driver service for BS_DEF.DLL" it then goes into the setup screen and says "setup programme detected no asus motherboard, installation will now be aborted"

Anyidea what this means? or how to sort it?

I dunno the answer to that one :(
If you look around the web, a few seem to get it but no one seems to have a fix.
Maybe drop ASUS an e-mail and we can all be wiser.

If you sort the floppy out, I can tell you how to do it with that.
 
ive had that problem ,needs a little reg edit

change HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node

to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\aWow6432Node


something to do with creative /logitech / asus update conflict

then it will work ;)
 
I have seen that fix, but it doesn't work for all, and some dont have that key.

However ASUS have version 7 out as below that has also worked for some. (fixes the install error)

Right click and save target as..... here. (AsusUpdt70401.zip) to get it.

What was the fix?
I like Reggies work round, but it seems this key is only there if you upgraded to SP2 rather than had a more modern XP disc to SP2 when you did install.
