Birthday upgrade yesss, need help.

The Vertex 2E SSD is a decent one, plenty of people have them.
Only other ones that are in a similar performance bracket all operate on the same Sandforce controller, so its all much of a muchness tbh.

I have that SSD and im happy with it :)

First of all happy birthday!

Second let me mix it up, if you have 200 and you dad is going to give you more, maybe you can push a new GPU, like a 580GTX or 570GTX? I think this would give you a really good boost.

+1, I've got the 120GB Vertex 2E, very happy with it. The C300 is also supposed to be a good drive though. I suspect you'd get very similar performance from each of those, so I'd just choose the cheapest...!

It'll be different for everyone. For example I use Visual Studio and World of Warcraft more than most other applications - so I would put both of those on my SSD before anything else.

The c300 is also on a sandforce controller so its basically the same throughput capacity as the Vertex 2E.

There was some new corsair's released yesterday I think, but they are about £150 for 64Gb vs £90 for the same capacity in the other 2.

As for what to put on it, as above really. OS, plus any other apps/games you use a lot.
If you want to do some rendering / editing then put the app you will use for that on the SSD and whatever file you want to edit and that will speed things up.
Then just move the file to the HDD once your done with it to keep the space free on the SSD.
