bit of bike advice please :)

Hi, well im in the market for a new bike/upgrade. but im well behind on things i do the occasional bit of off country racing, my current ride is a custom build comprising of an old ridgeback frame and i mean 5-6yrs old with FSA bearing components allround, an old pare of marzzochi zokes forks before they where sold off

and finally magura hydolic caliper brakes. so its an ok bike and does fine for fun rides and the occasional race but i think its time for an upgrade but dont know where to begin if i go for a full new bike whats good brand nowadays with a budget of £700 max?

i have done some browsing and came across ridgebacks new genesis but they seem a little cheap and cheerful

could i be better of just upgrading a few parts? frame forks and brakes as most frames are disk olny now?

i came across the legend that is the clockwork orange frame only £319, plus forks £150ish and brakes £180ish i could remain in budget but will all my current old school chainsets and such fit it.

ninja edit! Do bike shops do part exchange reducing cost of a new bike?

Whether your old parts will fit might depend on whether they are 7/8/9 speed, you could be better just buying a whole new bike as they can offer surprising value and won't be as worn out.

As for part exchange it varies from bike shop to bike shop so just ask to see what they can do.

Drawbacks being it's a 29 incher and it doesn't have any suspension, that said it is an On-One so should be good to ride and it is still relatively cheap with hydraulic discs. Some of the product names are sheer genius but they seem to have stopped selling the Gimp which makes me sad.

really good price, but not a fan of singlespeed bikes and no front sus forks, so i may pass there and £250 to upgrade to shimano gear set seems quite pricey. Did find a link to cotic on the on-one website bit prisey but i may up my budget and look into them frame and forks and see what i can slavage from my current setup

Thread revive rather than make another

well still need some more help, maybe opinions actually. So far i have got a fair few bits together for me bike some avid J5's, Mavic crossrides with continetal explorers and a set of fox Vanilla's RLC most other parts are coming off my old bike. my question is which frame would people recommend over an on-one Inbred or cotic soul??

Well i went for the Inbred with slot drop out at the rear its a sexy way to attach a rear brake caliper
