on good seeding files, what speeds do you tend to get ?

im on 1 mbit but tend to get 14kb/s a lot, or maybe 90 if im lucky, but then it drops and goes back up all the time, using u torrent, even on a 600 seeder file i only connect to 5 or so, dont really understand this : seeders: 5(600) why wont it do 600(600) :S

Oh and those on 8mbit MAX what speeds do you tend to get ?

p2p dload speeds can vary a lot depending on numerous things
for example
how many others are dloading form the same sources
what upload limits they use
which isp you use and their "fair use policies"

check for nat issues and run a speed checker

I'm on 8000/768 with ukonline £19.99
With a good torrent ( I use utorrent and at present using 1.7 beta) I have had up to around 4000 download. One can get lucky and get a single torrent downloading at 1000
Make sure you have 0 for unlimited in all the right places
I get the full 8000 when dowmloading a file using flashget
Who are your ISP?

How do you ensure that you connect to private trackers instead of public?

The .torrent file is downloaded from a site that you have to be a member of. Also you often cannot just join the site, you have to be invited. They also have ratio requirements. This ensures people seed and means the download speeds are good.

You are forgetting how many peers are also downloading from the tracker. Also windows XP has a connection limit of 10(?).

I usually max my connection out when downloading something on private trackers due to the number of people fighting for a chance to seed it.

Torrents 207,454
Seeders 1,602,441
Leechers 53,903

On a private tracker that I often use.
