It's not bizarre though really, is it? I doubt he is under any illusion that his findings will be applicable to the populace and that he understands the limitations of where he is asking it. In real terms, you're right, what it would show is insignificant, but nonetheless interesting for what is a PC gaming forum.

Unfortunately, a disappointing demonstration of immaturity and lack of empathy has resulted. Probably why Robert was so frustrated. It is saddening to think that so many members struggled with the concept so much all they could achieve is mockery.

As for suggesting preference isn't linked to academic ability, how can that be? Academia forms a huge influence in our lives. Preferences are defined all the time by the world around us. I don't think its unreasonable at all to hypothesise there would be a correlation between academic achievement and what games people play, if it all.
 
Due to the problems surrounding the game i'm more interested in the age and academic qualifications of the writers,programmers,artists etc involved with the game.

I would imagine average age : 14, academic qualifications 11+

Academic qualifications: 5 o'levels (from an era when the o'level exam actually required hard study and intelligence to pass!:p I should have gone on to do A levels and maybe uni,but I wouldn't listen to parents,teachers,I just wanted out of the education system at that stage and unfortunately never went back)
