Yes usually its about £5 extra month for the BB addon which will give you email and BBM access along with internet access.

Personally id go for the 3G curve...better than the 8900 mainly because it doesnt have the trackball which is prone to getting stuck etc...the 3g curve has the new trackpad so if you can plump for one of them, id go for that.
 
Get a 9000 and then get a black housing :)

An old but great phone thats showing its age...it wont run OS6....doesnt have enough RAM to do so.

Am hoping RIM release another 9000 Bold phone but with bigger RAM and better internals....that phone was the bomb...still have mine as a backup in case my 9700 goes boom...which it hasnt yet.

You probably will be able to do but most people arent interested in hybrids as its not a full OS release plus some of them contain bugs that could cause issues.

When i say its dated i mean the specs are dated...128mb of RAM which after the OS is installed your lucky to get 50mb free for any apps. But saying that its a great phone and if you dont install many apps then its even better but like i said the specs are pretty much out-dated now...its coming to the end of the line moreso when newer better devices that will run OS6 will be released now.
 
I would go for the 9700 or 9780. Easy to read screen, good keyboard and great build quality.

Had a 9300 3G on test and I didn't get on with the low resolution screen. The text looked pixelated.
 
I've got a 9700 on a £20 a month, 18 month, 500mb, 100 min, unlimited text and bb email contract which I'm loving at the moment.

Email support is definitely there but I use it mainly for texting and BBM, but it has replaced my laptop as my email device as I simply don't use my email a whole lot, so I can't really give you the definitive answer on just how awesome.

The keyboard is a bit fiddly at first, but I've only had mine a week and a half and I'm pretty much touch typing now, although with bigger fingers I could see that something closer to the bold 9000 in size would be better, although at the moment it seems that would be more likely to be a Desire Z or a Milestone 2.

Usability wise the BB is surprisingly adept, everything looks dated when you see videos, but it really doesn't feel it when you're using it, themes are easy to get a hold of and make anyway. It does have a bit of a learning curve but with normal use you'll get the hang of most things in a day or so :)

Simply put its much much better...i dont have to worry about crap getting into the trackball mech nor do i have to worry about cleaning it...my trackball on my 9000 hardly works and i just cant be bothered to open it up to replace or clean it thoroughly.
 
For me the BlackBerry has to be one of the best mobile phone devices I have ever used.

It's great for email, SMS, BBM etc, in other words a great messaging device.

But the phone falls short of the competition when it comes to browsing, Facebook, twitter etc. (not really what I require of a phone for)

OS6 should make the BB more friendly for other users, I'm waiting for the 9800 to appear in the UK, got the chance to to have a little play with one last week, I must say I was impressed

I agree on the messaging parts and I also agree that browsing isnt great but its by no means unusable and I find the FB and Twitter apps perfect for on the go use.
 
i still using myu bold 9000, keep meaning to upgrade, but just havnt got round to it. Cant imagine not having bbm now, so useful for travel and keeping contact overseas.

Hardware keyboard i find brilliant, hads lots of touchscreens, but going back to a proper keybaord, i wont being going back to softkeys.

I would not hold my breath. Been testing the Curve 3G and every variant is still OS5...
Then again OS6 isnt anything to brag about anyways.

What exactly impressed you? I was rather let down by it. Its just another instance of the same crap as before - with unessessary sideways scrolling and new icons.

Thats because at the moment there is no official OS6 release for the Curve 3G but it will be able to run it as far as im aware. But there is a leaked OS6 for the 3G curve;).

Still waiting on the 9700 to get OS6...the 9650 just recently got a leaked OS6 itself so its only a matter of time before it hits the 9700 i imagine.
 
I still very much doubt that you will ever get the full OS6 on the Curve. Its probably just OS5 with the new browser and one or two little changes. Some kind of lite version. Then again its not like BB OS has high requirements. But what’s the point of OS6 on a non-touchscreen device anyways?

Interesting, did you keep it in the case? I just chuck mine in my pocket and never have problems with the ball.
