Blackburn Confirm Allardyce Departure

Big Sam is not a manager that can get you into the Champion's League, but he is also not going to get you regulated either.

They are taking a BIG risk in sacking him.

He's obviously off to Inter to replace Benitez after the Club World Cup, what with him being so damned good at management.

There is 1 thing going for Fat Sam in regards to him being England manager; we won't have to worry about the state of the Wembley pitch any more, not with the sort of football he plays. In fact we can have even more NFL games at Wembley; the poorer the state of the pitch, the better chance we'll have under him.

Spot on, Blackburn are on paper a very poor team, so so defenders, average at best midfield and utter rubbish strikers (apart from the one on loan from us :p)

I think they'll struggle to stay in the league without Big Sam

Owners Venkys say it's part of their "wider plans and ambitions for the club".

Perhaps they want to increase brand awareness with derbies against Burnley and Preston? Big Sam has been good for us and I can't think of anyone better to bring in considering our size. Under him there was always the chance of scraping a Europa league place but we were very unlikley to get relegated. That's all that we can realistically hope to aim for these days.

So he takes them from a relegation position to top 10 and they sack him. Madness. Why do so many owners just not understand the extra money it takes to go from 10th to 4th or 5th.

They could put any of the best 10 managers in the world at blackburn and the best they could hope for without 500 million is a top 10 finish and a decent cup run.

YOu can also get 10th, while playing good to watch football, getting more fans and selling out every game because its enjoybable to watch, and you can get 10th kicking the crap out of the opposition, playing HOOF IT football, gaining no new fans, and losing money with seats not selling out.

Also, who says they won't spend a huge sum of cash?

Managers who have been sacked this season:

Chris Hughton (newly promoted Newcastle earning decent wins over Sunderland and Arsenal and holding around midtable)
Sam Allardyce (keeping Blackburn midtable despite a lack of talent/class/money/anything)

Managers still in a job this christmas:

Gerard Houllier (Champions League challengers Aston Villa - 4 points off the relegation spots)
Avram Grant (woeful West Hame side rooted to the bottom)

Go figure.

Enough better managers out of work at the moment, may as well ditch him and get a new guy in for the transfer window if they've got cash to splash.
