I work for a high street electrical/computer company that we dont like on these forums... And I come to work this morning opened the driver door and the handle come off my door (Toyota Yaris... so not really a handle its like a small chip tray tht u garb onto to open the door) and a gust of wind at the same time blew my door open..... WHACK into the side of a red 02 Corsa... so likewise you get out of the car and inspect the damage.

Usually id walk off but as i inspected the damage the owner is staring me in the face... hes sat in the car :(

So he gets out and notices i have my Pruple shirt on and says to me "I wont ask for your insurance details if you can do me a discount on a laptop"

I agree and he comes into the sotre when we open, picks a laptop... surprise surprise... we havent got it in stock. I win he looses.

Nice. I do hope this comes back to bite you in the *** :)

Hate people like you - I try my hardest to keep my car immaculate, and then antisocial people like yourself vandalise my property and walk off :)

It was a corsa... It deserved it ;)

Yeah i was thinking that he was goign to take down my reg n stuff, but he didnt ask for anything. The damage was a little bit of paint trasnfer and a small dint... some T-cut and a wax n it be reet.

T-Cut wont remove a dint. He'll have to pay a dent removal specialist to get it out.

Nobodies property deserves to be damaged by the actions of somebody else, even if its a Corsa. Just becuase it's a totally crap car doesn't mean it's owner isn't entitled for it to be kept nice.

He obviously wasn't too bothered about it if he just wanted a bit of discount on a laptop?

Nah Fox, it's a dint, not a dent, so T-Cut will get rid of it. :p

If the reason your door hit his car is due to the handle snapping then it's not your fault and you should just have apologised and seen where that lead. I'd never allow someone to get a discount because of something as silly as that. If I was asked for a discount I'd tell them no, but if they really want something I'll give them some cash to get it sorted/keep them happy.

As for coming back and biting you, it depends on how uptight the person is. If they are the sort to try and get a discount at your workplace due to something like that I wouldn't be surprised if it did come back and bite.

yeah, saying youd have walked away was a bit stupid.

Even on my old Fez id have been a bit annoyed if someone stuck a dent in it and did a runner. I wouldnt bother them for insurance details or anything, not worth it, but an appology would have been nice.

That wasn't the point, no-one suggested you did. What angers Fox (and myself) is that fact that you openly admit that you would have walked off had the owner not been in the car  You'd be quite happy to come back to your car and find someone had hit it and left no details then?

Well i didnt walk away did I? i appologised and he didnt seem too bothered. But the point of the post is tht he was goign to ask for my insurance stuff if he couldnt get discount...

That may have been what you intended the point to be, but its actually become about your attitude towards damaging other peoples cars.

Sorry, this is life

I'm with you on this; I try to keep my M3 immaculate and get so nervous parking in "dangerious" places.

It's just pretty ignorant to walk off and leave someone elses' car damaged, whether it's a scratch, dent, dint or whatever, it's still damage cused by your door!
