Blade & Soul !! it's been out for over 4years now and a western release is still nowhere in sight, however you can play the full game for free without any need for a proxy and a simple install !! > US/UK website <

Maybe some of you would like to try it out so I've done some brief instructions below and included some link + a how to video.

Whats Blade & Soul ? why should I care ? take a look...

It's your typical Korean themed MMo with great combat, fantastic locations and amazing graphics. It also does not need a monster PC to run it maxed out.

You can play the Korean version but believe me it's not easy nor worth the hassle, but you can install the Chinese (censored) version for free.

HOW DO I PLAY IT !!? ---> open the spoiler tabs and go for it ! Remember, your playing on Chinese servers so don't expect a low ping OR simply wait for it to release over here !! if it ever comes

Firstly, you need to make an account > QQsignup < use a real email address, everything else can be otherwise. You need to verify the account and make a note of the QQ account number as this will be used to sign into the game. Use Passport verification option which just needs *cough* 9 numbers.

The download is surprisingly quick but obviously depends on your connection.

You will need to change your system locale settings to Chinese via Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Administrative -> Change system locale.

You want to change this to Chinese (Simplified, PRC). *IF YOU DON'T DO THIS BEFORE PLAYING YOU WILL NEED TO RE-INSTALL THE CLIENT AGAIN*

No-one actually knows for sure, but I'm no longer waiting around for it

So far the game is very playable, I've even managed to beat a few gankers with various classes and the combat is brilliant.

So if i get this right? dl the client (doing now) install english patch and change local to Chinese simplified before playing?

Yes, download the client > before running change local to Chinese simplified or it knackers it apparently.

I booted up the game before applying the English patch , just to make sure It worked.

The game looks quite good, might download it if/when I have time

Reminds me a bit of TERA ?
Quite like the look of the classes, seems like it could be a nice change to play

How big is the client download?

Shy of 17gig installed.

The combat is a mix of directional aiming with combo's and situational skills so if Tera did it for you this should also, plus it's free !

Great game - I gave up on the China versions etc, too laggy! have started playing to the Private Russian server with english patch.

Yes the content is less than that of Korea & China etc but gives you a good feel for the game.

google playbns and enjoy.

It's an emulated server iirc ? so it doesn't have the full game but the ping would be considerably better.

It's rumoured the RU version will be released next year and some suggest the servers will be hosted in the EU which would be welcome news if it happens.

This is the best MMo I've played in a very long time, there is currently nothing that comes close to how good the combat is in this amazing game. ( PlayBNS )

Looks very much like Tera.

One thing I hated about tera was to do a skill you had to stand still, is this the case in B&S?

Mobility depends on the class. Having tested all the classes I can't remember any of them being rooted whilst fighting apart from the odd spell that required a 1-2s cast.

The combat is truly superb, it's very situational meaning skills will open up depending on the state or position the enemy is in. It's really fluid and intuitive and works flawlessly.

Grab the Russian version and give it a go, you get an English launcher that updates any changes before boot up.

Our Philosophy

We believe in letting everyone play the game as it’s intended to be played – skill-based progression throughout all the available content. No paywalls will hold you back, and no amount of money will give you an unfair competitive advantage over other players. We don’t like pay-to-win, so what we are offering are cosmetics, convenience, and consumables – not power, not gear, not permanent stat increases. We’re also going to make sure that we have a regular schedule of content updates that everyone will be able to enjoy.
NCoin & In-game Coin

Our cash shop in the game will be using NCoin – you’ll recognize it as the currency that WildStar will be using, as well as the North American-published Aion and Lineage II. You can purchase NCoin online or through retail outlets (US Only). With this NCoin, you’ll be able to purchase convenience items like food, potions, and repair tools; quality of life improvements such as character slots, inventory expansions, and Premium memberships; and cosmetic items like costumes and accessories.
We’re also introducing an in-game currency that is earned through gameplay. This in-game currency can be used to purchase many of the same items in the cash shop as what NCoin can purchase, including event-related items.

Premium Membership

Sadly no, but keep an eye on http://www.bladeandsouldojo.com/ as they have been giving away keys. You can get a founders pack for about £18 which gets you into all beta's before release with some goodies thrown in.

The beta is only online at set times, mostly 3-4 days in length but they might open them for extra days now and then for other testing.
