Hi all

Has anyone else noticed there PS3 acting strangely since the 3.10 update.
Ever since the new firmware my launch week PS3 has now started bleeping 3 times when I shut down and it when I restart there is a delay and I get a Please Wait message on the screen. It seems to take about 30 seconds for the message to disappear and then it starts up as normal.
Has anyone else noticed this happening to there console or is it just mine???

It's not just you...mine did it before 3.10 and still does it now. I find it happens when I'm browsing the web and streaming via youtube or some other online vid sites ;). It seems like at times multiple windows and streaming heavy content gets too much and my PS either slows down or the browser locks up. When I reboot on these occasions I get exactly the same symptoms as you describe. I don't think its a big deal really...wouldn't worry unless it's happening constantly?

I think it has something to do with a memory error, can be caused by a bug in a game or just to many things trying to access the memory. If it happens all the time it may be a problem, if its every now and then it could be just a problem with the firmware. You could reinstall the firmware by DL it onto a USB stick from the PS site.

Mines has always done it, if anything, i think it has go better lately lol

As msm said, i am sure i read somewhere it is a memory overflow error.

Personally me thinks Sony have been getting jealous of MS ability to sell us poor saps new xbox's after the rrod.

Beep, Beep, Beep....

Sounds suspicioulsly like

tick, tick, tick.....kerching - time for a new slim.

The beeping is it telling you it has had to perform hard force a shut down, similar to pressing the reset or off button on a PC. It can do it for several reasons, usually due to a memory issue as said, or an app refusing to close properly, etc.

It's generally nothing to worry about, but if it happens frequently try shutting down from the XMB with nothing open rather than when in game or browser see if that helps. If not then I'd look into formatting/reinstalling.
