The exhaust died last night.
My car now sounds like a chav's corsa, appart for the stupid noise are there any other negatives to driving with it until I can get to a garage (Sat)?
Its a 1.6 petrol 1999 Nissan Almera.

loss of compression ? :p

???
Loss of compression, how's that?

Depends where it's broke, if it's very loud then expect a tug from the police, it could also allow exhaust gas into the cabin which is bad times.

Just get it fixed, an exhaust can't be more than £100 from a motor factors.

As for running issues, doubt it. It may have less low down grunt but that's about it.

Depends on where in the exhaust but generally negatives will be a loss of back pressure meaning less torque low lower down the rev range, you'll sound like a knob and you may breathe in exhaust fumes if you stand still in traffic.

I wouldn't rush it in, Saturday will be fine.
