Hi all

My friend is thinking of getting a new car - and emailed me this link to ask me my thoughts. I'm no BMW expert (but I think there might be one or two round here, dunno :) ) so I thought I'd throw it out here for opinions, and what to look for etc..

BMW 330Ci

My thoughts are that the it looks decent, but a perhaps a bit pricy? the 330i is probably the one to go for, is there some kind of facelift around that time? Also nothing in particular makes that car stand out, and seems to have average miles for what is a 9 year old car.

Budget etc probably around that 6Kish mark, maybe a bit more.

cheers all!

Pretty sure facelift was in 2002? Looks a little bit more expensive than others I think and no mention of service history or any work thats been done on it?

coupes facelifted in 2003, saloons in 2001. Does seem a bit overpriced for a 100k+ 51 plate that isnt top spec though

Bit over priced, but it is trade. I would think that a 51 red 330ci would go for about 6k private, so maybe £6.5k trade is more realistic. Although, it says nothing about service history - and service history from a reputable specialist (or dealer) is an absolute must on these.

Also, the fake CSL's are a bit worrying and i'm guessing that they aren't going to be wrapped in the best rubber. I also note that the seats aren't photographed, which may mean there is wear on them.

FWIW your money generally goes further with a 330i (with the exception that the ci's had electric memory seats as standard and the saloon didn't), due to the fact that the saloons aren't in as much demand. However, i found that 330i's are more likely to come with sat nav and better toys.

The drivers door looks to be a different shade to the rear quarter panel IMO. Obviously it could be a trick o the light but I'd want to look closely at that.

Unless that Imola Red is faded and been unloved for years their washy pictures just don't do that colour justice.

A looked after car in that colour will cut your eyes with awesomeness, you just can't look away even if you try!

looks nice, I just got a quote for a laugh and it came in at £795, very interesting for me being 21, sorry to hijack thread but can anyone spit out their performance figures?

oops didn't see that tab, thanks, does that fuel consumption seem a tad optimistic?

Overpriced, I sold my Imola Red 330ci last year (lower miles, better condition, although was an auto not manual) and did a lot of checking regarding pricing. Also that wood trim just doesn't go with the red.

As for the actual colour and whether it has faded just go check it rather than a photo, I took numerous photos of mine and some often came out looking faded or miss matched panels which wasn't the case, very hard colour to capture in an image.

Same with Hell Rot - for some reason the panels can look discoloured in some lights.
