He wants a diesel for economy and someone suggests a V12?

I just showed that you can buy a limo, with TV`s,Fridges, massaged seats for 11 grand, same price as new-ish golf... 760Li Is a parliament car around the world, some presidents even use this car and you can pick up very good one for 16 grand in UK :)

Like this one, Its a newer model

Or Audi A8, not even V12 but W12 :D

I think similair car to that Statham drove in Transporter...

Its just in UK, most people are focused on golfs, and BMW 3-5 Series, Audi A3,A4, So their prices are sky high, while cars like A8 and BMW 7 series which in rest of the world regarded as top end luxury cars and cost around 100k brand new, cost cheaper used here than golfs :D

Another mad example Chrysler 300C 3.0 Diesel

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif.../page/1/postcode/cb42nz/radius/1501?logcode=p

Or 300c but Famous SRT 8 edition

I`d rather have Audi W12 or BMW 760 for this kind of price.... but this has amazing style.

For most of these cars, second hand dealers give 3 years parts and repair warranty so you dont need to worry about repair bills... Road tax, fuel, Servicing is the one to worry about if you buy any of these 6.0 l monsters

Why are they so cheap ?? just running costs ?

Why are they so cheap ?? just running costs ?

Running costs are higher than usual, most money will go for fuel, if you are young your insurance will be massive. Servicing would cost quite a bit and tyres would be around 150-200 each, oh yeah road tax 400 a year... But amount of car you`re getting for your money is... well no comment.

Why are they so cheap ?? just running costs ?

yes.
And also -they are undesirable. The general target for these is executives/people who earn very well. They tend to keep their cars for a while and then sell it for the next model after 3-4 years, as the want a vehicle with a new plate, etc
The average person is put off from buying them because a 760Li comes with rather painful running costs and if things go wrong you can't really fix it in the back garden or at your independent around the corner. Thus the price drops.:)

So what?

Really, so what? The sort of person who is buying a new Golf is not in a million years ever going to consider a 5-7 year old V12 powered luxo-limo instead. It's just pointless. What next, telling everyone spending £20k on a new MX5 that they could buy a 15 year old Porsche?

It's a facelifted version of the same model actually.

They are only 'cheaper than Golfs' when you start moving the goalposts. A 2005 Golf is cheaper than a 2005 BMW 760Li.

The prices are cheap used because purchase price is just a small part of the ownership of a car and the cost of absolutely everything else involving a car like this is MILES higher than the same thing on a Golf.

Whats 'mad' about that? It's just a diesel version of a pretty **** car built on a Mercedes platform from the 90's. Thats cheap because its basically plastic junk that most UK buyer shave little interest in.

For most of these cars, second hand dealers give 3 years parts and repair warranty so you dont need to worry about repair bills...

Bwuahahahahahahha! Seriously? You think that?! For a start almost NO second hand dealer is going to GIVE you a 3 year warranty (especially on a V12!). They'll be happy to sell you a worthless mechanical breakdown insurance policy with more holes in it than a swiss cheese, though, which will end up not really being worth the paper its written on and still leaving you exposed to bills.

Road tax, fuel, Servicing is the one to worry about if you buy any of these 6.0 l monsters

And all of these are hugely more than a Golf diesel.

I actually think these are amazing cars. I love this sort of car. But it's a waste of everyones time preaching about them in a thread where the OP is insisted he wants some sort of 2 litre diesel. We might be able to convince him to get a 2 litre petrol if his mileage is low but a V12 Luxo-limo?

I mean.. seriously?

I do find it a bit of an irritation and a letdown that when people say something along the lines of 'I need a family car, I want good running costs and do 20000 miles year, I have £6000'.
Within the first 5 posts someone is suggesting a 2002 ST220 or a 2004 W12 Passat or a 1992 MX5.

I must say I agree with Fox on this. We need some form of suspension system for people just talking **** in motors.
