BMW Diagnostic Software?

mines 03 so id be ok :) basically i had a coil pack go last night, fortunately i went to my mates garage and he could tell me which one it was using his diagnostic machine, it sounded like a old audi quattro running on 5 but was shaking the whole car. Bought a replacement one today for £30 and after 15 mins or so job was a good un, wonder what the dealer would have charged me.....

Was a bit nervous at first when I read i had to remove pollen filters, holders, pipes engine covers etc etc but was pretty easy really. Ive still got the engine management light on the dash tho so will have to go back up and get it knocked off. Could be usefull in the future

I know the engine bay is dirty :P i guess i could have cleaned the covers but then the rest would have needed doing.....

I think the light is supposed to go off by itself once it detects no problems...

I know nothing of BMWs but in any car ive has the EM light on this was the case, although it took ten or so miles of driving before it cleared

ah well ive only been around the block since i fitted the new coil pack :) will go for a blast tomorrow

Usually these sort of things turn themselves off after a certain amount of "good" ignition ons.
I bought a USB cable a fortnight ago from a well known online marketplace for less than 18 quid inc delivery (CAR PC DIAGNOSTIC SCANNER FAULT CODE READER ELM 327 OBD) and it came with Proscan software similar to Vagcom, so far it has worked on my newage WRX and the wifes 4.6 IS v8 X5. Definately worth the money matey.
