Will an alternator taken from a 520i fit in a 320i?

No idea but I'll ask the obvious questions. What age 3 and 5 series? Sure the BMW buffs can then work out which engine they will both have which I'm sure will help.

Sorry I should have been abit more specific.

The alternator is taken from a K-reg 520i, and I need it for a 1991 J-reg e36 320i.

Edit seen post above yes it it will work.

Either the 80amp unit or the 140amp.

Edit* from what im reading however the 105amp wont work with the e36 supposedly.

ps,. im not the most technically minded just had a quick skim of some bmw cds I bought and looked up part numbers lol
