BMW F10 530d M-Sport: On-going Review!!

Good to hear they have improved Housey. What brand runflats did your car come with?

This might show you how bad I am at this stuff. But as I remember they were black and the same size as the ones I have now. I did know, but my brain just doesn't store this sort of stuff away so can we go with black, rubbery and run flat?

...I've got a photographic memory with some stuff I hasten to add, scarily so with many things people will tell you, but stuff like this is in one eye and out the other ear.

Went to the shops tonight and half way there was greeted by the flat tyre warning. Carried onto the shops and bought a tyre pump which wouldn't inflate the tyre. Got home and found this fully embedded in the tyre.

New tyre required but it still got me to my destination and back home again and no instant flat tyre like there would have been with a non runflat.

Sitting in Knights Stoke going to take the 535D with Adaptive for a run to see if I should swap. Be interesting to do a direct compare and see if the cost of change is sensible.

That the one I linked to a few days back? Looked like a good spec car.

We should try a new OcUK challenge if he buys this. It seems if you link Housey to a car, he goes and buys it :D

Can we get him to buy something hilarious like a Dacia Duster?

Another option / bargaining chip

New engine on that one. They lie more convincingly about the fuel consumption, 18% better urban economy apparently...

Also better seats / mirrors / stereo / wood & 8 months / 13k newer.

£2k more on the sticker price, but £35 cheaper road tax, so you'll make back the difference in no time...

So here are my thoughts.....

1) The car is better with Adaptive suspension and Active Steering (I think thats right) and the magazine reviews (What Car, Autocar etc) are bang on here. It is still not super smooth on the 19's, but it removes the jarring ride from the car and steers better. If you are considering an F10 you would be missing out on the best dynamics without this fitted.

2) The 535D feels better low down, it pulls sharper and more eagerly from low revs but as I have said previously, it doesn't feel that much quicker one you get into the main torque area and feels much the same over 3K. Again it is quicker but not sure the extra money would be worth it if new, the 530D is a truly superb engine for the car, more than enough by any rational measure.

I am not sure, certainly based on where the deal sits now I would swap the car out, it isn't worth close to £9K to do so, the car is better but not £9K better so I shall most likely stick with it for now.

Oh yea, just drove the B8 RS4......review to come later.
