I got a call from a friend today saying that she had been without hot water this morning I volunteered to have a quick look at it but my diy knowledge is distinctly below par and i left a bit flummoxed but promising i would have a shot at finding a solution to the problem.
I would rather not have to get out a guy to have to fix what is probably a real simple problem so if there happens to be a corgi registered handy man on site willing to dispense little tit bits of advice it'd be greatfully appreciated.
First off the boiler is a myson apollo 30s, secondly there is gas coming through to the property, I've tried switching off the boiler and relighting it but it has no real effect. also just to clear things up water is coming through the pipes it's just coming through cold.
I'm unsure as to what steps to take really, the pilot light stays on no problem, the pump is hot to the touch and the pipe leading from the pump is warm, occasionally you can kind of hear the boiler trying to fire (it has always made a low humming noise when in action (heating water or radiators) but this fades away after 30 or 40 seconds into nothingness again.
As i say i don't really know what to try but any tips as to what it might be would be really handy in saving my friend a large call out fee.
Cheers all, Dan
