Don't envy Sam Mendes with this one at all. Skyfall was a huge hit, but I'm not really sure why. It was a weakly plotted nonsensical mish-mash and along with QoS one of the least memorable films of the series. Watching the Bond channel on Sky this week the early films' class shines through, but at the time it was much easier to dazzle the audience than it is now as the Bond films were really a completely new form of cinema. Now, it's all been done before.

I love Bond, but I really have no idea where they're trying to go with this series.

I don't really mind. I didn't dislike Skyfall, but it's certainly not in my list of classics, and it's not a film I would go out of my way to watch. I felt it was worth seeing mind.

But then I don't get the love for Casino Royale either, or the new direction they're taking the Bond films in.

Nor do I. I have find CR, QOS and Skyfall (SF) just OK films, nothing amazing.

I really don't understand the love for Casino Royale. IMO Goldeneye will always be the best Bond film

Skyfall was a below average film at best, full of stupid setpieces. Other than the opening section there was nothing worthwhile in the film.

CR was alright the first time but less so on repeated viewings.

It cost $200million and two hours to kill off ONE character in this woeful film.

Note to everyone on this next production, please spend £5.00 on the script.

ok .. having seen all the bonds ...........and on comparing the last films since Brosnan....

goldeneye was Brosnans best... by a country mile ..... and until Daniel Graig came on the scene was still the case ..... but casino royale and skyfall surpass it imo .

the last one being a great way for Judy Dench to bow out

So, what about the title theme, which is always a big talking point with any new Bond.... who would you guys like to do the opening track?

I'm struggling to come up with choices, but I reckon 'Muse' could be a good choice... 'Florence + the Machine' could deliver something powerful too... I would even welcome 'Adele' again :o

EDIT: Just seen this info, which may just be rumor... "Bond 24 to be based on Sebastian Faulks' 2008 novel Devil May Care"

"The book is set in 1967 and is a sequel to The Man with the Golden Gun (Roger Moore's second Bond film). The story has Bond against an evil chemist named Dr. Julius Gorner who is threatening to "bring Britain to its knees"

Casino Royale is still far and away the best DC Bond film, I thought the plot in skyfall made no sense at all.

I am yet to hear anyone explain who the sniper was killing in Beijing and why, it was a plot point there purely to allow Bond to find the Casino chip and see the girl. The only reason he went there was because the bullet fragments in his shoulder led to the hit man. Once you start tracing the story backwards it makes no sense.

I am a huge fan of American Beauty and Road to Pedition so expected good things, please get it right second time around.

I was disappointed after watching Skyfall, just seemed very disjointed. On second viewing it scrapes by as ok. None have come close to Bourne Identity which is basically what they have [bond] been trying to do since its release.

Casino Royale is the closest I have seen any Bond film come to the books, unless you go back to the really early Bond films when they're still fairly sensible. Even then things like the parkour are way beyond what books Bond would be up to.

The 5 minutes at the beginning, in black and white, with Bond killing the guy in the toilets is spectacular. It's a brilliant rendition of the way Bond comes across in the books. He kills people and gets the job done, but it's ugly and painful and difficult. "How did he die?" "Not well." Amazing. One of my favourite film scenes.
