Books you used to love as a kid...

The Animals of Farthing Wood series by Colin Dann and some Just William were the ones I read most - that was a while ago!
Animals of farthing wood was great fun. Must admit it was a bit scary in places.

The Redwall series of books by Brian Jacques. Loved them as a kid, read all of the ones that were out when i was younger, about 19 odd.
They are probably in here already but for me it was Hobbit (LoTR came when I was a little older) and any books by Brian Jacques. I think it was called the Redwall series about all the animals and that. Fantastic series of books, I read them until mid teens before I outgrew them.
I am a redwall fanatic. Read them as a kid, and still obsessed now. If I were to pick a favourite it would possibly be The Bellmaker, even though it is a relatively short book.
New one due out in May - http://redwall.wikia.com/wiki/The_Rogue_Crew
Such beautiful books; the descriptions of food, environment and creatures are extremely captivating. Especially the hares - wot wot!

Others: Tintin, Asterix, Hobbit/Lotr (heavy narrative, but not offputting), brer rabbit stories...

Is it not the adventure series by Willard Price? Posted it on page 1 :)

Amazon Adventure was my favourite - have always wanted to go down the Amazon since reading that one - preferably without the anaconda incident though.

As for later books Raymond E Feist and Frank Herbert were the main ones for me.

I'm 43 now so thinking your age will effect what some people read ?

3 Investigators
Narnia Series
Greek myths
Norse Tales
Hardy boys

As i got into my teens-

Gor books by John Norman
Forgotten Realms
Dragon Lance
Lord of the Rings - Read the Moria tomb chapter part for my English oral exam :)

Love reading and always have a book on the go, feel lost with out one, deffo the greatest thing that school ever did for me..

yeah Adrian Mole was brilliant as was Animals of Farthing Wood and Faraway Tree.

When I have kids I'll be repurchasing new copies of all of these and wifey won't need to worry I'll be perfectly happy to give bed time stories to the nippers each night.
