the boot priority isnt a problem its booting for the CD alright, the problem is that i dont get a choice in the matter i used to when i put in a bootable CD after the post screen get a maessage
"press any key to boot from CD." after about 5 secs without pressing any key it would boot the OS from the hdd
now when i put in a bootable disk for exmaple memtest or the windows xp disk it doesnt give me this message and automatically boots from the CD without me telling it to.
For what its worth the boot prio is
optical drive
hdd
You'll only get the message "press any key to boot from CD" when you boot the Windows XP CD (and possibly other Windows version). Most CDs, like Memtest, tend to boot without warning, as long as CD is before HD in the priority.
As i said i used to get those messages when i would boot from the windows disk now i am not getting them anymore they just disappeared.
Due to other problems i was having with the machine i formatted the drive and went to start a fresh and that caused yet another problem so ive had to fork out and get a shop to take a look at it.
