Hey i'm building a brand new C2D computer with Gigabyte P35-DS4, and i'm having some issues..

I've build many computers before so i know how to assemble stuff..

But when i power on the computer.. all fans start and everything.. for about 5 seconds.. then it turns off.. and in about 3 seconds it turns itself on again and repeats..

The memory i have in it is a garbage (got wrong memory from store today, using pc3200 ddr2 mem to try to get it to post) but i'm wondering if that could be the reason or something else?

Thanks.

Tried a CMOS reset?

Had a similar problem with my P5k Deluxe and clearing the CMOS seemed to fix it :)

Thanks.. tried it but no luck! :|
Has to be because of the crappy memory, anyone know the minimum speed for C2D?

Sounds like a boot issue with the memory if the memory needs more volts
than the default bios voltage.Certain boards will not post with memory for example that needs 2.2volts if the bios is set to 1.8 volts.

Just tried to remove all the memory and boot.. Same thing, except now i get beeps while doing it.

It's not normal to power on - power off - power on - power off - power on .. etc
with no memory? I'd assume that the should/would just beep..

Long beep followed by two short beeps? Faulty memory/memory not in properly. Your computer has to have some RAM in to boot.

Edit: Misread. As far as I know, lack of memory should make it do the above beeping, not just turn off and on repeatedly.
